After pregnancy, dieting and weight loss, or bariatric surgery, you want to show off your accomplishment, whether by celebrating your slimmer shape or a new bundle of joy.
But with the rewards often comes the unwanted burden of stretch marks. This is the side effect of weight fluctuations, and skin stretched beyond the limit. Stretch marks are shiny skin indentations that typically appear on the breasts, buttocks, abs, hips, and thighs. They are not a health threat and do not cause physical pain, but many people don’t like the way they look. Foyé MD and Spa is happy to offer ICON fractional resurfacing treatments for stretch mark reduction on any area of the body. Schedule your free consultation to learn how ICON can help improve your skin's health and appearance.
ICON uses fractional laser therapy to stimulate the production of new collagen. The collagen can improve the appearance of smoothness in the skin. At the same time, ICON will target discoloration, resulting in a more even tone after a series of treatments. Each treatment takes as little as 30 minutes, and it’s non-invasive, so there’s no downtime required.
Laser sessions usually last about 30 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. Shields will be provided to protect your eyes from the laser during the procedure. The session will begin with the special handpiece being guided over the affected area. As the Icon™ device glides along, energy is being delivered into the skin.
You may not feel anything during the laser treatment, or just some mild discomfort. It all depends on the care option you choose. Your doctor will supply post-treatment instructions to help you manage any pain, swelling or redness you may experience. These symptoms typically subside after about three days. Follow-up sessions should be booked 3 to 6 weeks apart, if necessary. Generally, 3 to 5 sessions or more are recommended for stretch marks.
For laser skin renewal, arrive at your appointment with bare skin, do not wear lotions or makeup at the treatment area.
At least four weeks before your procedure, stop exposing your skin to the sun without protection, stay away from tanning agents and tanning beds.
It is common to experience swelling redness and dark colored debris on the skin surface immediately after skin renewal treatment. This will last anywhere from 2–24 hours but may continue for up to 3–5 days.
After treatment, cleanse the area gently and stick with non-irritating cosmetics.
Limit time in the sun and wear sunscreen with an SPF 45 or higher every time you head outdoors throughout the entire treatment course.
